About the project
The completion of Units 3 and 4 of the nuclear power plant in Mochovce (MO34) is unique not only in Slovakia, but also in the EU, where only 4 new nuclear units are currently being built - two of them in Mochovce. The output of each unit will be 471 MWe and one reactor will cover 13% of electricity consumption in Slovakia.
Compared to coal and gas power plants, Units 3 and 4 of Mochoviec prevent the release of at least 5.2 million tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere every year. So about as much as if more than two million cars and trucks had disappeared from Slovak roads. This will make a significant contribution to the EU's plan to be carbon neutral by 2050.
